Who are our volunteers?

All our volunteers are animal lovers who value respect and community and believe that no one should have to give up their pets due to age. Many of our volunteers form lifelong friendships with their pet owners.

Most of our volunteers are or have been pet owners themselves. Others would love to have a pet however due to their current circumstances aren’t able to do so. Many are working in or have worked in the human health or animal rescue services.

Any adult can apply to become a POOPS volunteer. We really value our volunteers – there are so many worthy causes out there. We feel privileged our volunteers have chosen to support us and our mission of keeping pets and their people together.

How do I volunteer?

To volunteer you must be over 18, have a current National Police Clearance or WWCC, and are able to undertake POOPS duties without additional assistance. We expect the client’s dog will only ever be walked by the registered volunteer. Our promise to our client is that the focus of our volunteers will be wholly on the beloved pet.

To apply, please fill out our application form or have a look at our open positionsYour application will be processed in one to three weeks.

How we help

POOPS volunteers are available in most areas across the Greater Perth Metropolitan area including Yanchep, the Hills, Mandurah, Rockingham and in Busselton. Our organisation can help with taking care of the basic needs of pets.

  • Organisation

Our volunteers don't just help with pets. We have plenty to do in the background! Let us know about other special skills you have that could help POOPS.

  • Dog Walking

Dog walking is one of our most popular services. Our volunteers visit a client’s home at mutually agreed times taking into account any special needs.

  • Not just dogs

Our services are not limited to dogs! Our volunteers help with all kinds of pets including cats, birds and even fish.

  • Trip to the vet

Our volunteers can help ensure pets get the care they need by providing transport to the vets or other important appointments.

Our volunteers all have a Police background check, are vetted by our coordinators, go through our induction process and are fully insured by POOPS
